I just got inside after walking around outside in the rain. It started out as a drizzle, and it just kept on drizzling and drizzling until it was pouring and I was soaked to the skin. It was like an all-natural shower (though I wasn't naked). Now I'm inside, snuggling up in a big turquoise sweater with llamas and snowflakes on the button bands and cuffs and wearing the most comfortable sweat pants. I've got a huge cup of hot chocolate to one side and a slice of cold pizza on the other (the two go together surprisingly well). I have a new pair of socks on the needles and a novel to write.
It's been a long time since I've done a 'random' post, hasn't it? I think my last truly random one was back in January! It looks like a lot of my posts about the weather seem to fit nicely into the random slot, I suppose because my mind tends to wander when it's raining or snowing out.
My sister is making muffins currently. If she doesn't share with me, a combination of the Hufflepuff and Slytherin inside me will force a few of those pumpkin cream cheese muffins into my stomach. On the topic of food, I have now finished my hot chocolate and pizza and I'm only somewhat full. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, because they were very liberal helpings of both. My stomach must be growing. Or these sweat pants allow me to eat more than I normally could.
And now I have to go and either do some knitting or writing. See you soon!

Cozy
It's been humid and stuffy outside all day. Not really the best January weather. I'd rather there be a blizzard, we have no internet access or heat so everybody has to huddle underneath big heavy wool blankets, and I have a whole bunch of knitting project to work on.
Well, at least it's started raining now, and hailing. The clouds are dark grey and the sun has gone on stealth mode, hiding behind layers of condensed water vapor. And I received a big birthday present in the mail today.
That birthday present consisted of a $50 Knitpicks giftcard and various other amounts of birthday money equal to 75 dollars total, all hidden away in a 19x13x8 cardboard box and disguised as several balls of yarn. Talk about best birthday present ever.
So, I have lots of knitting to do, the sound of the rain pounding on the roof to listen to, and a big sweater to snuggle up in. How very cozy.

Winter Winds
Right now it's 54° outside. Perfect October weather. Perhaps I'm not remembering correctly, but it doesn't feel like Texas weather often grants us the need to wear sweaters in early October. It's been a bizarre change in temperature; yesterday it was in the 80s and we had the AC on. The night before last I couldn't sleep in my bed because it was so hot. Last night I was shivering under my blanket.
It does make for a nice change.
Last night I made an order from Knit Picks. They are having a one-week Halloween sale- black and orange yarns are on sale up to 25% off. I needed some more black yarn for a project anyway, and it was a dollar off, so I put two skeins in the cart. And then added a bunch more stuff to my cart. I love yarn shopping, even online. It was all Christmas yarn... almost. I, on a whim, bought 3.5 ounces of Wool of the Andes Roving that was orange so it was on sale. I'm super excited about that. Since my and my mom sort of share our stash of wool roving, we have a lot of cool colors. Actually, only cool colors. Mom does not like warm colors. I, however, am more open and so was very excited about orange roving.
I haven't written a post without a specific topic in a while- it reminds me of my old blog (which was practically all posts of utter randomness).
